Fair Trade Sustainability Alliance is hiring a Compliance Manager

ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND
Fair Trade Sustainability Partners (FairTSP) is the entity performing operations tasks and obligation fulfillment for the Fair Trade Sustainability Alliance (FairTSA) Fair Trade program. Its mission is to support and foster the wellbeing of small farmers and workers, including migrant and contract workers. FairTSP envisions a future where all participants in the food supply chain are appreciated and compensated fairly and live in communities that makes living there worthwhile.
POSITION OVERVIEW
FairTSP is seeking a Compliance Manager to ensure compliance by FairTSA certified cooperatives, farms, and processing facilities, as well as authorized accreditation bodies. The position will initially be half-time. The position holder should be a native Spanish speaker with very good English skills both orally and written. She/he/they will work remotely with flexible hours and preferably be located in Central or South America but could also be located in the US. Occasional travel to trade shows and conferences and certified operations may be required. The successful candidate will be afforded the opportunity to work in a small, dedicated, diverse and supportive team, and to interact with a variety of Fair Trade certified operations along with a worldwide network of accredited certification agencies.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communicate with accredited certification bodies on a regular basis

Maintain a database of certified operations, certificates and products

Research and prepare noncompliance cases for resolution

Inform potential and FairTSA certified operations of Fair Trade requirements via Webinars, calls and written material

Contribute to producer and certifier information in written and electronic form

Contribute to the FairTSA Inspector Training Program

Conduct Inspector Trainings in Spanish

Contribute to FairTSA Social Media activities

Participate in developing the general direction of the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working closely for/with a certification agency either in the agricultural or social responsibility field, along with a B.Sc. in Agriculture, Food Science, or Food Supply Chain Management or similar qualification. Experience with a Latin American organic certification agency would be a considerable plus.

Deep knowledge of certification systems and compliance procedures

In-depth understanding of food supply chains

Very good written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish

Ability to work effectively through mostly remote contact with team members

Ability to support and upgrade existing and create new compliance documents

Strong personal and professional commitment to diversity and racial equity

Ability to build supportive relationships with certification agencies, small farmers, workers producer organizations and companies, and other partners

Proficiency with PC's and common software applications such as the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and pdf files

Ability to communicate via Zoom, WhatsApp, Skype, MS Teams, or similar applications

Highest level of discretion in the management of confidential information
Remuneration
Remuneration is negotiable and depending on experience and skills. Health insurance including dental, and vision is possible.
